In most cases, although uncomfortable, poison ivy rashes can be treated at home with remedies such as oatmeal baths, calamine lotion, or applying cold compresses to the skin.
More severe rashes could need medical treatment. In some cases, a steroid cream or medication is given, and if the rash becomes infected, an antibiotic may be prescribed. Read more about posion ivy in our health library.
